Popular Australian Lottery, the Oz Powerball, will be changing its format from the 1st March 2013.
The 2nd biggest Australian lottery, Oz Powerball, will be changing on the 1st March 2013.
Here is what you can expect from the new format:
- The ball number and selection will change
- The addition of a new prize tier (more prizes)
- The chance to win bigger jackpots more often
New Number Of Balls
Previously Oz Powerball players chose 5 numbers from a possible 45 and then 1 number from a possible 45 (from a second ball set).
In the new format the ball selections will be as follows:
Pick 6 numbers from a possible 40 plus 1 number from a possible 20
Players need to match all 7 numbers to win the Jackpot prize.
New Prize Tier
Oz Powerball organisers will be adding an 8th prize tier to the lottery (from the previous total of 7 prize tiers). This means you will now win a prize by matching 2 main numbers plus the Powerball.
This greatly increases the odds of winning a prize on Oz Powerball. The chance of winning any prize becomes more likely as you will now have a 1 in 78 chance (an improvement on the previous 1 in 120 chance).
Bigger Jackpots
We are sure this will be the most important consideration for most of you…
When Oz Powerball reaches or exceeds the AUD$10 million mark, if there is no jackpot winner, the jackpot is anticipated to grow by a massive AUD$10 million per week.
This means much bigger jackpots more often.
